This Week in San José State Athletics returns to catch you up on last week's action and see what's ahead for the Spartans! 

Women’s Tennis

Record: 8-1, 0-0 MW

This Week: The Spartans will play Boston College at noon on Wednesday, March 5 at the Spartan Tennis Complex. 

Last Week: The Spartans defeated Santa Clara with a narrow lead of 4-3 and beat Cal St. Fullerton 4-1. 

Spartan Fact: Cheuk Ying Shek is currently ranked No. 111 in the country in the most recent ITA Ranking and is the first Spartan to do so in seven years.

Women’s Basketball

Record: 10-20, 3-14 MW

This Week:

The Spartans will host Colorado State at the Provident Credit Union Event Center on March 4. The Spartans will then travel to Las Vegas, Nev. to play in the Mountain West Tournament from March 9-12. 

Last Week: The Spartans traveled to play Utah State on Feb 26, where they lost 75-82 and to UNLV on Mar 1, where they lost 56-89.

Spartan Fact: Amiah Simmons has now scored over 20 points in nine games this season. 

This Week:

Men’s Basketball

Record: 13-17, 6-12 MW

This Week: The Spartans will travel to Fort Collins, Colo. to play Colorado State, on March 4. The Spartans will host Fresno State at the Provident Credit Union Event Center on March 8 for Senior Day.

Last Week - The Spartans hosted UNLV at the Provident Credit Union Event Center on Feb 25. They lost 71-77.

Spartan Fact: The Spartans' 9.0 threes per game in conference play is tied for second in the Mountain West. SJSU is fourth in the Mountain West in 3pt. percentage in conference play, shooting .362.

This Week

Track and Field

This Week: The Spartans will travel to Berkeley, Calif., to compete in the Cal Opener.

Last Week - The Spartans competed in the Mountain West Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., winning 10 medals throughout the championship.

Spartan Fact: Sky Hagen took gold and broke her school record in the women’s 60m dash.

This Week

Softball

Record: 9-11, 0-0 MW

This Week: The Spartans will host Boston College at the Spartan Softball Complex at 5:00 p.m. on March 5. The Spartans will also host the Silicon Classic II at the Spartan Softball Complex on March 8-9. They will compete against Santa Clara and Princeton.

Last Week:  The Spartans traveled to Stockton, Calif., to play in the Libby Matson Tournament. They won two games. One against Pacific, 9-0, and one against UCR, 3-0. They lost three games. BYU, 0-3, Pacific 5-7, and BYU 3-14.  

Upcoming Schedule:

Baseball

Record: 8-3, 0-0 MW

This Week: The Spartans will face Saint Mary's on the road Tuesday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN+. The Spartans will then host a three-game series vs. Utah from March 7-9. Friday's game vs. Utah will be streamed on Mountain West Network.

Last Week: The Spartans fell to Santa Clara in a midweek matchup before taking two out of three games against San Francisco over the weekend.

Women’s Beach Volleyball

This Week: The Spartans will travel to Sacramento, Calif., to play against the Pacific Tigers and Sacramento State, March 8.

  • March 8 - vs. Sacramento State at Sacramento, Calif., Hornet Beach, 2:00 p.m. PT

Women’s Gymnastics

This Week: The Spartans will travel to Davis, where they will go up against UC Davis and Eastern Michigan and then will return home to host Oregon State and U.S. Olympian Jade Carey. 

Last Time: The Spartans won against Utah State with a score of 195.400
