RENO, Nev. – Rocco Caballero collected both Spartan RBIs to lead the San José State baseball team (20-16, 8-7 MW) in a 12-2 loss over Nevada (20-15, 8-7 MW) at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a three game series. Despite the loss, the Spartans took the series over the Wolfpack after winning the previous two games.
Caballero provided the spark for SJSU, delivering a two-out, two-RBI double in the top of the third to score Alex Fernandes and Antonio Nanez, giving the Spartans a brief 2–0 edge. Caballero’s double marked his team-leading 11th of the season. Nevada responded with a three-run fourth before erupting for four runs in the fifth, followed by a five-run sixth inning
On the mound, Win Scott (4-2) started strong, holding the Wolf Pack scoreless through three frames. However, Nevada capitalized in the fourth and fifth innings. Scott pitched 4.1 innings and was charged with the loss. Luca Staiano and Brady Pavlovsky both made appearances in relief.
