Mungali Leads Spartans on Second Day of 78th Western Intercollegiate Presented by Titleist

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.Keshav “KC” Mungali fired a 1-under 69 on Tuesday to pace the San José State men’s golf team during the second round of the 78th Western Intercollegiate Presented by Titleist at the historic Pasatiempo Golf Club hosted by San José State. The tournament is being broadcast nationally on the Golf Channel.

  • Mungali recorded four birdies in the round, including three on his final four holes, to post a 36-hole total of 142 (+2), putting him in a tie for 29th place overall.
  • Ivan Barahona followed closely behind with a 71 (+1) for the day and a two-round score of 143 (+3), good for a tie for 38th.
  • Zubair Firdaus carded a 72 (+2) and sits tied for 43rd at 144 (+4).
  • Avinash Iyer shot 73 (+3) and is tied for 63rd place at 148 (+8). 
  • Jed Dy posted a 74 (+4) and holds a tie for 71st place at 149 (+9).
  • Xuan Luo is at 170 (+30) after two rounds.

Competing as individuals: 

  • Alaric Mercie De Soultrait matched Mungali with a two-day score of 142 (+2) after shooting a 71 (+1) Tuesday, tying for 29th.
  • Awesome Burnett is tied for 79th at 151 (+11) after a 75 (+5).
  • Marlon Jones shot 77 (+7) for 152 (+12) and a tie for 82nd.
  • Andreas Diogenous recorded a 74 (+4) and is tied for 85th with a 154 (+14).
  • As a team, the Spartans sit in 12th place after two rounds at 26-over-par.

Tournament Leaders: 

  • Pepperdine holds the team lead at 6-under.
  • Arizona’s Filip Jakubcik leads the individual competition with a two-round total of 131 (-9).
