Lopez Ortega & Spartans In The Lead at Credit Union 1 MW Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.—Lucia Lopez Ortega remained atop the leaderboard, and Nicola Kaminski shot the low round of the day for the Spartans as the San José State women’s golf team moved to the top of the leaderboard at the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship at Mission Hills Country Club.

  • Ortega shot a 1-over 73 in the second round and is now tied for first with Toa Yokoyama of UNLV at 2-under 142.
  • She made pars on nine of the first 10 holes of the round and made three birdies over the final eight holes including a birdie on the par-5 18th hole.
  • Kaminski led the Spartans on Wednesday with a 1-under 71 and moved into the top 10, tying for seventh place at 4-over 148.
  • She made the biggest leap on the leaderboard, moving up 21 spots, making birdies on two of her first three holes of the day and making pars on her final three holes.
  • Moa Andersson shot a 3-over 75 and is tied for fourth place at 1-over 145.
  • Rebecca Gyllner shot a 2-over 74 and moved up 10 spots to tie for 25th at 8-over 152.
  • Isabella Cioe is tied for 37th at 13-over 157, shooting an 82 in the second round.
  • San José State moved into first place after shooting a 5-over 293 and is 8-over 584 for the tournament.
  • The Spartans are two shots ahead of UNLV, seven shots ahead of third-place Nevada and 10 shots ahead of Colorado State.
