SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Ivan Barahona fired an even-par 70 to lead the San José State men’s golf team in the final round of the 78th Western Intercollegiate Presented by Titleist at the historic Pasatiempo Golf Club, as seen live on Golf Channel.
Barahona’s steady performance across the three-day tournament resulted in a 54-hole total of 213 (+3), securing a tie for 22nd place on the individual leaderboard. His round was highlighted by three birdies, helping pace the Spartans to an 11th-place team finish at +44.
- Keshav “KC” Mungali carded a 73 (+3) in the final round to finish with a 215 (+5), tying for 36th alongside teammate Alaric Mercie De Soultrait, who competed as an individual.
- Avinash Iyer shot a 71 (+1) on Wednesday and finished in a tie for 53rd at 219 (+9), while Zubair Firdaus posted a 76 (+6) for a 220 (+10), tying for 57th.
- Jed Dy concluded the tournament with an 80 (+10), finishing at 229 (+19) and tied for 82nd, while Xuan Luo rounded out the team with a 78 (+8) and a 248 (+38) total.
Three Spartans competing as individuals made notable contributions:
- Marlon Jones shot a 71 (+1) and tied for 70th with a 223 (+13).
- Awesome Burnett posted a 72 (+2), including an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole, and also tied for 70th at 223 (+13).
- Andreas Diogenous finished at 236 (+26) after an 82 (+12) on Wednesday.
- Five Spartans—Barahona, Iyer, Jones, Burnett, and Mercie De Soultrait—each recorded three birdies in their final rounds.
- San Diego State captured the team championship at 6-under-par, while Arizona’s Filip Jakubcik claimed individual honors with a stellar 197 (-13).
