GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Emilia Sjostrand took first place in the Women’s Long Jump and Alyssa Bean set a new personal best in the Women’s 200m to lead San José State Track & Field on the first day of competition at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational hosted by Florida at Percy Beard Track in James G. Pressly Stadium, on Friday.
Sjostrand soared to first place with a mark of 6.34 meters (20-9 ¾) in her outdoor season debut, outpacing a competitive field and solidifying her status as one of the top jumpers in the nation. Teammates Katharina Graman and Eve Divinity also delivered standout efforts in the event, finishing in sixth with a mark of 6.17m (20-3) and tenth with a mark of 6.03m (19-9 ½), respectively.
On the track, Bean continued her solid outdoor season by clocking a personal-best 23.45 in the Women’s 200m, earning her a third-place finish and reaffirming her position as one of the Spartans' top sprinters.
