FRESNO, Calif. – Alex Fernandes and JC Osorio-Agard each hit a home run and added three RBIs to lead the San José State baseball team (25-26, 12-15 MW) in a 9-7 victory over Fresno State (25-26, 16-11 MW) at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a three game series. With the win, the Spartans take the series 2-1 and are now tied for fifth in the Mountain West standings with one series left in the regular season.
The Spartans jumped ahead early with three runs in the second inning, highlighted by Fernandes’ three-run homer. Osorio-Agard added a two-run double in the third, giving SJSU a 5-1 advantage. The Spartans built on its lead in the later innings, including a two-run homer by Neil Jansen in the seventh and a solo shot by Osorio-Agard in the eighth, his sixth long ball of the year. Zach Chamizo drove in an insurance run in the same frame to pad the Spartans' lead.
On the mound, starter Kyle Calzadiaz (1-2) earned his first win of the season, tossing five solid innings and allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Relievers EJ McGrew and Tyler Albanese held the Bulldogs in check despite a late four-run rally in the eighth.

- Every Spartan starter reached base at least once, with Jake Maroney, Jake McCoy, Chamizo, Osorio-Agard and Jansen each collecting two hits
- Fernandes hit his third home run of the season and his second of the series
