SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State baseball sophomore pitcher Tyler Albanese and junior infielder Rocco Caballero were named to the All-Mountain West Second Team, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
This marks the first All-Mountain West honors for both Caballero and Albanese. In the past four seasons, the Spartans have received 17 All-Mountain West awards. The Spartans are looking to return to the Mountain West Championship finals for the fourth season in a row, opening the tournament tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. against New Mexico.
Tyler Albanese, RHP, Sophomore, Redlands, Calif./Redlands East Valley HS
- Appeared in 19 games this season, tossing a total of 34.1 innings
- Posted a 3-3 record and an ERA of 3.15 on the season
- Recorded seven saves on the season, third most in the Mountain West
- Six of his saves occurred in conference play, tied for the most in the conference
- Held opposing batters to a batting average of .233
- Tossed 50 strikeouts, averaging 1.47 strikeouts per innings pitched
Rocco Caballero, SS, Junior, South Gate, Calif./Warren HS/Golden Coast College
- Appeared and started in 46 games in 2025
- Recorded a batting average of .283, a slugging percentage of .455, and an on base percentage of .341
- Notched 33 RBIs, four home runs and four stolen bases
- Tallied 20 doubles on the season, tied for the third most in the Mountain West
- Led the team with 22 RBIs in conference play
- Hit a walk off single vs. Utah Valley
- Hit game-winning double with two outs in the ninth at Nevada
