Hagan Leads Spartans on Day Two of NCAA West Prelims

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Sky Hagan finished third in her heat of the Women’s 100m Hurdles First Round securing an automatic qualification for the quarterfinals on Saturday to lead San José State Track & Field after the second day of competition at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds hosted by Texas A&M on Thursday from E.B. Cushing Stadium.

Hagan clocked in at 13.27 seconds to finish third in her heat of the women’s 100-meter hurdles first round, securing an automatic berth to Saturday’s quarterfinal round. This marks her first career qualification to the NCAA Championships quarterfinals.

A top-12 finish in Saturday’s quarterfinal would send Hagan to the outdoor national championships in Eugene, Ore., for the first time in her career.

In the women’s long jump, Eve Divinity posted a personal best of 6.34m (20-9¾) finishing in 14th, narrowly missing out on a spot at nationals. Teammates Emilia Sjostrand: 6.28m (20-7¼) and Katharina Graman: 6.26m (20-6½) also competed, putting in solid performances on Thursday.

Action continues Friday with Cameron Tarver competing in the quarterfinals of the men’s 200m, Ethan Fong in the first round of the triple jump, and Deshawn Banks in the high jump semifinal. Like Hagan, a top-12 finish would punch their ticket to Eugene.
