Spartans Conclude Season Against Fresno State in MW Tournament

SAN DIEGO – Jules Ronquillo tied her career high with three hits while Aneesa Almaguer and Taylor Squires each added hits of their own and Mia Reynolds threw a complete game to lead sixth seeded San José State softball (22-28, 9-14 MW) in a 2-0 loss ending their season against third seeded Fresno State (35–18, 16-7 MW) in the night game on the first day of the Credit Union 1 2025 Mountain West Softball Tournament from SDSU Softball Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Despite a strong showing from starting pitcher Reynolds and a multi-hit performance from outfielder Ronquillo, the Spartans were unable to break through in the scoreless outing. Reynolds pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits and two earned runs over six innings, while striking out two and walking none. Her performance kept San José State within reach the entire game.

Offensively, the Spartans were led by Ronquillo, who went 3-for-3 at the plate. Additional hits came from Aneesa Almaguer and Taylor Squires, but San José State struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

Fresno State’s Serayah Neiss threw a complete game in the circle, holding the Spartans scoreless and striking out two to secure the win.

The loss marks the end of the season for San José State, who displayed resilience throughout the entirety of the season, tying Coach Tammy Lohmann's second-most wins during her tenure.
