SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State's Mateja Bosić and Brendon Gyapjas were voted to the men's water polo Preseason All-WCC Team by the conference’s head coaches announced by the conference on Friday. Additionally, the Spartans were picked to finish in first place in the conference.
Bosic’ returns for his senior season after being named First Team All-WCC and an ACWPC All-American Honorable Mention last season. The attacker led the Spartans with 45 goals and 44 assists in 2024. Spartan goaltender, Gyapjas, returns for his junior season, after also being named First Team All-WCC and an ACWPC All-American Honorable Mention last season.
The Spartans were ranked the No. 10 team in the country by the Collegiate Water Polo Association. Since joining the WCC two seasons ago, the Spartans have made the WCC Tournament championship game in back-to-back seasons, winning the conference championship in 2023.
The Spartans will open the 2025 season at the Triton Invitational with a game against UC Santa Barbara on August 29.
