MORAGA, Calif. –Arnold Matshazi scored the go-ahead goal with just seconds remaining in the match to lead the San José State men’s soccer team (2-0-0, 0-0-0 WAC) in a 2-1 dramatic road victory over Saint Mary’s (0-2-0, 0-0-0 WCC) at Saint Mary’s Stadium.
After falling behind in the 39th minute, the Spartans wasted little time responding. Anthony Guzman scored in the 43rd minute, finishing in the top right corner off a clever setup from Jesper Bakli to level the score at 1-1.
The match remained deadlocked until the final seconds when Matshazi delivered the game-winner in the 90th minute. Matshazi headed in the ball into the back of the net off a cross from Javier Lopez, sending the Spartans to their second straight win to start the season.
