SAN JOSE, Calif. - Eren Karakaya, a 6-10 center from Turkey, will join the San José State men’s basketball team for the 2025-26 season, as announced by head coach Tim Miles.

  • Joins the Spartans for his freshman season
  • Named Best Five after leading his team in blocks and helping them win the U16 Turkey Championship in 2022 
  • All-time season block leader for the Turkish U19 league during the 2024-25 season
  • Recorded seven double-doubles and led his team to a U19 League championship in the 2024-25 season 
  • His father, Muammer, played soccer for Termikspor in Turkey from 1994-98

Coach Miles on Eren:

"We are thrilled to add somebody of Eren's quality, both as a basketball player and as a young man, so late into the recruiting cycle. Eren has a lot of valuable international playing experience and will have the potential of making a real impact on this year's Spartan men's basketball team."
