SAN JOSE, Calif. — San José State University’s men’s golf team has been recognized with the 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), earning Presidents' Special Recognition status for achieving a team GPA of 3.5 or higher.
The Spartans were one of only 75 NCAA Division I programs nationwide—and among just a handful from the Mountain West Conference—to receive the elite Presidents' Special Recognition distinction, which honors teams that demonstrated outstanding academic achievement during the past academic year.
“We’re incredibly proud of our student-athletes for their dedication in the classroom as well as on the course,” said head coach John Kennaday. “This recognition reflects the commitment and discipline our players bring to every aspect of their college experience.”
The award is part of the GCAA’s PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award program, which this year recognized a record 292 schools across all divisions. San José State's inclusion in the Presidents' Special Recognition category places the program among the top academic performers in collegiate men’s golf.
