PULLMAN, Wash. - Avinash Iyer fired a 205 (-8) and Ivan Barahona carded a 207 (-6) to pace the San José State men’s golf team as the Spartans closed out the Palouse Collegiate on Wednesday at Palouse Ridge Golf Club, hosted by Washington State.
The Spartans finished in sixth place in the team standings with an 830 (-22), recording 15 rounds at par or better during the three-day tournament.
Iyer tied for ninth overall after shooting an even-par 70 in the final round, highlighted by a team-best five birdies. Barahona delivered the Spartans’ low round of the day with a 68 (-3), collecting four birdies en route to a tie for 15th place.
Keshav “KC” Mungali matched consistency with a final-round 71 (E) and three birdies, finishing at 210 (-3) to tie for 28th alongside teammate Jed Dy, who also totaled 210 (-3) after a 73 (+2) on Wednesday.
In his first tournament as a Spartan, Ben Friedman shot three straight rounds of 71 (E) for a 213 (E) and a tie for 36th place. Competing as an individual, Christian Maggard closed with a 73 (+2) and four birdies to tie for 42nd at 214 (+1). Fellow individual competitor Itai Cohen carded a final-round 72 (+1) to finish at 217 (+4), marking his first tournament appearance for SJSU since April 2024.
