SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—Naima Foster recorded the final two points of the match to help the San José State volleyball team sweep California, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-20), Saturday afternoon at the Mustang Invitational at the Mott Athletics Center.
- Foster recorded her team-leading 10th kill of the match on point 24 in the third set.
- On match point, Foster went back to serve and recorded her only ace of the match to give SJSU the win.
- Ava Hewitt-Smith and Morgan Graves each had seven kills in the win. Hewitt hit .500 for the match (7-1-12).
- Lolo Fonua and Learden Lee each had five blocks to leave SJSU.
- Fatimah Hall recorded 18 assists and nine digs, while Clara Christensen had nine assists and five digs.
- Nazare Judd led the team with 13 digs.
- The Spartans hit .269 for the match and recorded eight blocks.
- San José State beat California for the first time since the 2001 season.
- In the first two sets, SJSU trailed early in each set but took the lead by the team’s 10th point of the sets for the wins.
- SJSU only trailed in the third set at 1-0 as Cal got the first point and never led the rest of the match.
- The team enters Sunday’s match with a three-match winning streak.
