BERKELEY, Calif.– Samu Biros scored a game-high four goals to lead the No. 6 San José State men’s water polo team (4-2, 0-0 WCC) in a 12-10 loss to No. 3 Cal (6-0, 0-0 MPSF) on Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans trailed by two after the first quarter but rallied in the second to even the score at 4-4. Biros not only paced the offense but also anchored the defense, adding a team-high two blocks.
- In addition to Biros' four goals, Sam Keightley recorded a hat-trick, Giancarlo Marquez contributed two goals and Mateja Bosić scored one
- Mitchell Keightley led the team with two assists while Sam Keightley and Erik Duesund each tallied one
- In goal, Brendon Gyapjas collected nine saves
- Maro Tiozzo and Mitchell Keightley each had two steals
UP NEXT: The Spartans will host the People's Republic of China on Sept. 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the SRAC for the team's home opener.
