Barahona Leads SJSU in the First Round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San José State senior Ivan Barahona fired a 2-under 70 on Saturday to lead the Spartans in the opening round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Golf Course.

Barhona carded three birdies on the day and sits in a tie for eighth place individually after the first round.

As a team, the Spartans posted a 289 (+1) and are tied for seventh place heading into Sunday’s second round.

Avinash Iyer recorded an even-par 72 with three birdies to finish the day tied for 26th place. Keshav “KC” Mungali shot a 73 (+1) with two birdies, good for a tie for 36th.

Rounding out the Spartan scoring, Jed Dy tallied four birdies en route to a 74 (+2) to tie for 53rd, while Ben Friedman also had four birdies in his round of 75 (+3), tying for 63rd place.

The second round of the 54-hole event continues Sunday, with the final round scheduled for Monday.
