SAN FRANCISCO—Morgan Graves and Fatimah Hall recorded double-doubles on Saturday to help lead the San José State volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-17, 25-22) victory over San Francisco to close out the USF Challenge.
- Graves recorded her second double-double of the weekend and third of the season with 13 kills and 14 digs.
- She hit a team-best .357 for the match (13-3-28) and recorded two blocks.
- Hall recorded her second consecutive double-double and fourth of the season with 24 assists and 15 digs.
- Lolo Fonua led the team with 14 kills, while Ava Hewitt-Smith added 12 kills and hit .308 for the match. It is the fourth consecutive match in which three Spartans have recorded double-digit kills in the match.
- Hewitt-Smith led the blocking attack with six blocks, one solo and five assists, followed by Learden Lee with three, one solo and two assists.
- San José State recorded a season high 10 service aces, led by Lee with four and Hall with three.
- Tatiana Robinson made her Spartan debut on Saturday, recording three kills and a block assist in two sets played.
- The Spartans won the first set, 25-23, on a Robinson kill.
- After dropping the second set 26-24, SJSU rebounded with a 25-17 third-set win on a Fonua kill.
- SJSU took a 19-18 lead in the fourth set on a Sariah Johnson kill, never gave up the lead, and won on Hall’s only kill of the match.
UP NEXT – The Spartans open Mountain West play next week with two home matches against UNLV on Thursday at 6 p.m., and San Diego State on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be held at Spartan Gym, inside the YUH Complex, on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets. Admission is free for all.
