COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior Avinash Iyer shot a career-best 63 (-9) to lead the San José State men’s golf team in the final round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Golf Course on Monday.
The Spartans closed with their best team round of the tournament at 13-under, finishing in a tie for fourth at 854 (-10).
Iyer’s stellar round included seven birdies and an eagle, giving him a 209 (-7) for the tournament and a career-low finish. His 63 is the lowest round by a Spartan since Zubair Firdaus carded a 61 en route to winning the Alister MacKenzie Invitational last season (Oct. 7-8, 2024). Firdaus also posted a 63 in that event.
Other Spartan Scores
- Ivan Barahona: Four birdies on Monday for a 69 (-3). He finished at 210 (-6), shooting under par in all three rounds.
- Keshav “KC” Mungali: Five birdies in his final-round 71 (-1), finishing with a 218 (+2).
- Jed Dy: Closed with a 75 (+3), highlighted by an eagle, for a 220 (+4).
- Ben Friedman: Recorded five birdies in his final-round 72 (E), finishing at 225 (+9).
Individuals (Silver Course)
- Itai Cohen: Tied for 13th at 214 (-2).
- Christian Maggard: Tied for 18th at 215 (-1), including a final-round 71 (-1).
