SAN JOSE, Calif. - Arnold Matshazi has been named WAC Offensive Player of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday. This marks Matshazi’s first career player of the week award and the Spartans’ fourth player of the week award so far this season.
Matshazi scored the Spartans' game winning goal in their 2-1 victory over UC Davis on the road last Wednesday. In the 74th minute, Matshazi scored off a one timer shot with his right foot that curled over the opposing goalkeeper.

The Spartans went 2-0 on the week with the win over UC Davis and a 3-0 victory over UC San Diego to close out non-conference play. With a record of 7-1-2, the Spartans are off to their best start through ten games since 2000.
The Spartans will open Conference play this Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Spartan Soccer Complex. Tickets can be purchased here and the match will be streamed on WAC International.
