HONOLULU—Morgan Graves recorded her first collegiate double-double Thursday night in the longest match in school history as the San José State volleyball team outlasted Hawaii, 3-2 (25-23, 26-24, 25-19, 25-13, 15-13).
- Graves led all Spartan hitters with 13 kills and added 10 digs, while also contributing two aces and two blocks for SJSU win.
- The match lasted three hours and five minutes, the first Spartan match to ever exceed three hours.
- The win snapped a 42-match losing streak to Hawaii, dating back to September 14, 1993, when SJSU won 3-2 at The Provident Credit Union Event Center.
- SJSU won for the first time in Oahu since October 17, 1986, also needing five sets for the win that day in Klum Gym.
- Ava Hewitt-Smith hit .400 for the match with nine kills on 20 attempts and only one hitting error and added three blocks (1-2).
- Learden Lee led the team with five blocks (1-4), and teamed with Sariah Johnson for her fifth block of the night which gave the Spartans the victory.
- Lee also hit .333 in five sets with six kills on 12 attempts and two errors.
- Lolo Fonua added eight kills and a block.
- Johnson had six kills, two digs, one assist and three block assists.
- Fatimah Hall recorded her second consecutive double-double with 33 assists and 13 digs.
- Talita dos Santos Goncalves led the Spartans with 18 digs and added five assists and two aces.
- Mariana Buchanan came off the bench in the final three sets to hit .400 with six kills on 15 attempts.
- Naima Foster notched five kills in the match.
- Devon DeNecochea recorded her first kill as a Spartan.
- The Spartans jumped out to a 22-14 lead in the first set and held on to win 25-23. The team hit .283 for the set.
- San José State won the second set, 26-24, fighting off three Hawaii set points and scoring the final five points of the set. Buchanan recorded her first kill of the match on point 26 to give SJSU the win.
- After dropping the next two sets, the Spartans had an uphill battle in the fifth set, down 12-9 on back-to-back Hawaii kills before getting the serve back on a Graves kill.
- Randilyn Reeves then served three straight points for SJSU, including her only aces of the set, as the team took their first lead of the set at 13-12.
- After Hawaii tied the set at 13-13, the Spartans got a Johnson kill and a block from Johnson and Lee for the first win of the season.
