DAVIS, Calif. — Samu Biros scored four goals on four shots to lead the No. 6 Spartans (4-1, 0-0 WCC) in an 11-7 victory over No. 10 UC Davis (3-3, 0-0 Big West) on Saturday afternoon at the Aggie Invitational. The Spartans also took down American River College 22-9 in an exhibition game Saturday morning. The Spartans have now won three out of their four matches against ranked opponents this season.
Vs. No. 10 UC Davis
- Maro Tiozzo, Laszlo Szieben and Mateja Bosić each netted two goals, and Louis Fehrensen one
- Szieben, Bosić and Giancarlo Marquez tallied two assists each while Mitchell Keightley contributed with one
- Szieben added two drawn exclusions and two steals to his stat line
- Brendon Gyapjas tallied a season-high 18 saves, holding UC Davis to just seven goals
Vs. American River College
- The Spartans saw 10 different players score in the win, with Michael Minera and Mael Suchet leading the way with four goals a piece
- Bence Kristok and Bosić each recorded hat tricks, while Biros added two goals and an assist
- Erik Duesund, Zach Ramans, Fehrensen, Sam Keightley, Szeiben and Maro Tiozzo each scored a goal
- Mitchell Keightley led the team in assists with six, while Minera, Zach Ramans, Erik Duesund and Alexey Poletaev counted two
- Poletaev earned the win in net, holding American River to under double digits and recording nine saves
UP NEXT: The Spartans will return to action as they head up to Berkeley, Calif. and take on No. 3 Cal on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1:00 p.m.
