Spartans drop match to Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO, Calif.Amaya Cabrales-Estrada and Paige Pineda-Aliamus each scored a goal to lead San José State women’s soccer (1-6-0, 0-0-0 MW) in a 4–2 loss at Sacramento State (3-4-0, 0-0-0 Big Sky) on Sunday despite outshooting the Hornets 23–11.

Leslie Jacobo-Duran and Lily Montesinos provided assists on the two Spartan goals. Both assists were the first of their careers.

  • Paige Fry made five saves in goal
  • Pineda-Aliamus tallied four total shots
  • Maryam Ladkani collected three total shots
  • Seven different Spartans had multiple shots
  • The Spartans combined for 23 shots, the most shots taken by the team since Oct. 26, 2018, when they had 25 shots in a match against Fresno St.
