Barahona Leads the First Day of the Southwestern Intercollegiate

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. Ivan Barahona shot a 66 (-5) and finished the day tied for first to lead San José State on the first day of the Southwestern Intercollegiate hosted by Pepperdine University from the Sherwood Country Club. 

  • Barahona had five birdies and zero bogeys in the first round
  • Barahona shot a 31 (-4) on the front nine
  • The Spartans as a team shot a 286 (+2) and finished in fifth place ahead of No. 5 Texas 
  • Zubair Firdaus shot a 70 (-1) to be in 10th place
  • Avinash Iyer recorded a 74 (+3) and finished the first round in 35th place
  • Keshav "KC" Mungali started his first hole of the tournament with an eagle
  • Mungali finished the first round shooting a 76 (+5)

UP NEXT: The Spartans will continue with the second round of the Southwestern Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
