Spartans Fall to Utah Tech on the Road

SAINT GEORGE, Utah - Angel Iniguez scored the Spartans’ lone goal to lead the San José State men’s soccer team (8-2-2, 1-0-1 WAC) in a 3-1 loss to Utah Tech (2-5-4, 1-1-0 WAC) Thursday afternoon at Greater Zion Stadium. 

Iniguez’s goal came in the 27th minute, equalizing after Utah Tech’s goal early in the first half. Utah Tech regained the lead in the 62nd minute and sealed the result in the 82nd minute with their third goal.

  • The Spartans had seven shots on goal
  • Iniguez has scored in three straight matches and four of his last five
  • Iniguez’s goal was his fourth of the year
  • Neo Ruiz recorded five shots, three of which were on goal
  • Edgar Guerra tallied one save
  • The loss ends the Spartans’ four game winning streak and seven game result streak
  • This is just the third time this season the Spartans have allowed multiple goals in a match
