FRESNO, Calif.—Ela Freiman started the season with third-place finishes in the 200 and 400 individual medley races to help the San José State women’s swimming and diving team begin the 2025-26 season at the Fresno State Invite on Friday.
- Freiman, who redshirted last season, is the school-record holder in the 200 IM and has the second-best time in the 400 IM in SJSU history. She swam a 2:03.95 in the 200 IM and 4:23.75 in the 400 IM.
- Seven other Spartans placed in the top-10 in the first competition of the season.
- Lais e Silva was sixth in the 50 freestyle, followed closely by Dalton Sickon in seventh place.
- Elinor Windram, making her Spartan debut, was sixth in 3-meter diving.
- Two Spartans made their debut on Friday in the 100 butterfly as Lillie Grover finished fourth, and Ava Bautista was seventh.
- Genevieve George finished fifth in the 400 IM, swimming as a Spartan for the first time.
- Hannah Ernst was ninth in the 100 backstroke.
