SAN JOSE, Calif. — Mateja Bosić recorded a hat trick to lead the No. 8 San José State men's water polo team (7-5, 2-1 WCC) to an 11-8 victory over No. 17 Santa Clara (7-9, 1-2 WCC) on Saturday afternoon at the SRAC.
- In addition to Bosić's three goals, Maro Tiozzo, Mitchell Keightley, Sam Keightley and Samu Biros each delivered two apiece to contribute to the Spartans' offensive front.
- Biros led the team with nine shot attempts, followed by Tiozzo with six, Mitchell Keightley and Bosić with four each.
- Sam Keightley followed with three shot attempts, and László Szieben and Louis Fehrensen added one apiece
- Szieben paced the team in assists with three, while Fehrensen, Duesund and Biros each had two and Mitchell Keightley one
- Giancarlo Marquez took the lead on the defensive front, drawing three exclusions, as Tiozzo, Mael Suchet and Bosić drew one
- Goalkeeper Brendon Gyapjas recorded 14 saves, anchoring the defense and helping maintain the Spartans' advantage throughout the match.
