LOGAN, Utah - Walker Eget threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns to lead San José State football (2-5, 1-2 MW) in a 30-25 loss at Utah State (4-3, 2-1 MW) Friday night from Maverik Stadium.
The Spartans totaled 534 yards of offense, including 194 yards on the ground. Steve Chavez-Soto led the rushing attack with 102 yards on 11 carries, including a 66-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. Eget connected with Lamar Radcliffe on a 15-yard touchdown late in the first half and later found Leland Smith for a 45-yard strike in the fourth quarter to give the Spartans a 25–24 lead with 11:48 remaining.
Utah State used a late pair of field goals to edge ahead in a game that featured five lead changes. Despite allowing 461 yards of total offense, the defense held the Aggies to 3.4 yards per carry and forced five punts on the night.
- This was the fourth time this season Eget threw over 300 and the third time in the last four games
- With no interceptions in the game, Eget extended his streak of consecutive passing attempts without an interception to 228, the third-longest streak in Mountain West history
- Derek Carr holds the record for most consecutive pass attempts in MW history without an interception, with 305
- Smith finished the night with four receptions for a career-high 116 yards
- Smith’s 45-yard reception set a new career-long
- Kyri Shoels added seven catches for 104 yards

- Radcliffe also contributed a career-high 74 rushing yards and 15 receiving yards
- Radcliffe's touchdown was his first touchdown of the season and first receiving touchdown of his career
- Jaylen Thomas and Taniela Latu led the Spartan defense with nine tackles apiece
- Jordan Pollard finished with seven tackles and a sack, his first full sack of the season
- Noah McNeal-Franklin notched his first sack of the season
- Quincy Likio tallied a half-sack and a career high two tackles for a loss
- Gafa Faga also recorded a half-sack, 1.5 tackles for a loss, and two QB hits
- The Spartans finished with three sacks and nine tackles for a loss in the game
- Denis Lynch knocked through both of his field goal attempts, from 37 and 35, respectively
- Danny Scudero’s streak of four consecutive games with 100 or more receiving yards came to an end.
- His four-game streak tied the SJSU record
- The 534 yards of total offense are the most for the Spartans since they had 543 yards of total offense on Aug. 28, 2021, against Southern Utah.
