COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—San José State women’s swimmers Ela Freiman and Genevieve George have been named the Mountain West Swimmer and Freshman of the Week, respectively, for their performances in the dual-meet victory over UC Davis this past Saturday.
Ela Freiman, Mountain West Swimmer of the Week
- Won two individual races and swam the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay team
- Contributed 33 points towards San José State’s 151-142 win over UC Davis last Saturday
- Won the 200 Butterfly at 2:01.90, the ninth-fastest time in school history and the third-fastest time in the Mountain West this season
- Won the 200 Individual Medley by over two seconds with a time of 2:03.29, the fifth-fastest time in the MW this year
- Started the meet by swimming the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay team
- Finished second in the 200 Breaststroke
Genevieve George, Mountain West Freshman of the Week
- Won one individual race and a one relay and finished second in another individual race to help the Spartans to a 151-142 win over UC Davis
- Won the 200 Backstroke at 2:20.54, the sixth-fastest time in the Mountain West this year
- Second in the 200-IM at 2:05.58, the 10th-best time in the MW
- Fourth in the 200 Butterfly at 2:03.25, fifth fastest in the conference
- Started the meet by swimming the first leg of the winning 200 medley relay team
