SAN JOSE, Calif.— Katarina Brajovic and Emma Fantousis won in doubles and singles to lead the San José State women's tennis team on the first day of the Fall Invitational on Friday at the Spartan Tennis Complex. The Spartans competed against Nevada in doubles play and UC Davis in singles play.
- Fantousis and Brajovic won their doubles match against Nevada's Wiem Boubaker and Silvia Maria Costache, 6-4.
- Duru Durgun quickly defeated her opponent, Maya Youssef, in straight sets on court one, 6-2, 6-3.
- On court two, Soledad Fayos Capilla won in a tight three-set match against Polina Marakhtanova, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
- Fantousis bested her opponent in singles, Vivian Gallaway, 6-3, 6-1.
- Katarina Brajovic came out victorious in her singles match after playing three sets against Sophia Sappa, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
- Cristina Mateos Losada also battled in a tight contest against Penelope Wong, winning in tiebreaks, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7).
- Tara Mihaljevic dropped her singles match against Kaia Wolfe, 6-3, 6-2
- Durgun and doubles partner Fayos Capilla were bested by Petra Janigova and Amahee Charrier, 6-1
- Mateos Losada and Mihaljevic fell short against Marlene Foerster and Kennedy Robinson, 6-4
