SAN JOSE, Calif.— Freshman Tara Mihaljevic marked her victory as a Spartan at home court, winning in straight sets in singles play to lead the San José State women's team on the second day of Fall Invite on Saturday morning.
On the second day of the Fall Invite, the Spartans faced Nevada in singles and Santa Clara in doubles.
- Mihaljevic defeated Petra Janigova, 6-1, 6-4 on court four.
- On court three, Emma Fantousis defeated Silvia-Maria Costache on court three in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
- Fantousis and doubles partner Duru Durgun defeated Tian Yu Dong and Ashley Katz in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7-5).
- Durgun dropped her singles match against Amahee Charrier, 7-5, 6-4.
- Soledad Fayos Capilla fell short in a tight three-set match, 4-6, 6-0, 3-6.
- Cristina Mateos Losada was bested by her opponent, Kennedy Robinson, 6-3, 6-0.
- Katarina Brajovic dropped her singles match against Wiem Boubaker, 7-5, 6-2.
- Fayos Capilla and Mateos Losada fell short in their doubles match, 6-1, against Daniella Dimitrova and Anna Rahman.
- Mihaljevic and Brajovic were bested by their opponents, Juliette Krumholz and Madhu Satishbabu, 6-1.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will conclude the Fall Invite tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 25, against UC Davis in doubles and Santa Clara in singles.
