SAN JOSE, Calif.— Samu Biros scored a game-high of four goals to lead the No. 8 San José State men's water polo team (9-5, 3-1 WCC) in a 14-9 win against Pomona-Pitzer (12-10, 7-0 SCIAC) for the Spartans opening match of the Julian Fraser Memorial on Saturday morning at the SRAC.
- The Spartans are now on a three game winning streak
- Giancarlo Marquez and Sam Keightley each recorded a hat trick, while Mateja Bosić, Maro Tiozzo, Mitchell Keightley and Louis Fehrensen each contributed one goal.
- Mitchell Keightley dished out five assists to lead the Spartans. Tiozzo followed behind with two assists and Marquez, Fehrensen and Duesund each added one apiece.
- The Spartans loomed over Pomona-Pitzer in steals with 14. Mael Suchet and Biros led the team with three.
- Brendon Gyapjas tallied 11 saves in goal
- Pomono-Pitzer is the No. 2 ranked Division III water polo team
