SAN JOSE, Calif.— Emma Fantousis came back in her singles match in the third set to earn the San José State women's tennis team a majority win in singles play to close out the Fall Invite on Sunday afternoon at the Spartan Tennis Complex.
The Spartans concluded the Fall Invite by competing against UC Davis in doubles play and Santa Clara in singles play. In singles play, three Spartans won in straight sets.
- On court two, Fantousis defeated Tian Yu Dong in a three-set match, leaving her opponent scoreless in the third set, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.
- Duru Durgun quickly claimed victory in her match, winning in straight sets against Anna Rahman, 6-4, 6-1.
- Soledad Fayos Capilla won in straight sets against Juliette Krumholz, 6-4, 6-1, on court three.
- Cristina Mateos Losada overcame her opponent, Madhu Satishbabu, 6-4, 6-3.
- On court four, Tara Mihaljevic was bested by her opponent, Ashley Katz, 3-6, 2-6.
- Katarina Brajovic fell short in her singles match, 6-2, 6-4, against Jamie Pope.
- In doubles, Fayos Capilla and Fantousis dropped their match against Mika Ikemori and Polina Marakhtanova, 6-1.
- Durgun and Mihaljevic were bested 6-3 by Maya Youssef and Isabella Bringas.
- Mateos Losada and Brajovic fell short against Kaia Wolfe and Aileena Hu, 6-2.
