
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Angel Iniguez was named WAC Offensive Player of the Week and to TopDrawerSoccer’s Team of the Week, announced by the conference and site on Tuesday. This marks Iniguez’s first WAC player of the week award of the season and the fourth of his career. This is also his second time being named to TopDrawerSoccer’s team of the week this season. TopDrawerSoccer’s team of the week recognizes the 11 best players across the nation during that given week.
Iniguez scored three goals across two games this week, leading the Spartans in securing four conference points. In the Spartans' 2-2 draw against SDSU, Iniguez scored both of SJSU's goals, recording his first brace of the season. Iniguez scored in the 13th minute and in the 81st minute while the Spartans were down to 10 men. In the Spartans' 3-1 win over UNLV, Iniguez scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute of the match from outside the box with his left foot.
Iniguez’s WAC player of the week award marks the seventh for the Spartans this season, extending a program record.

The Spartans will close out the regular season against Air Force on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Spartan Soccer Complex. The match can be watched on NBC Sports California. With a win, the Spartans will clinch a spot in the WAC Tournament. The match will also be head coach Simon Tobin’s last career match at home.
