LAHAINA, Hawai‘i - Avinash Iyer carded a 134 (-8) after two rounds to lead the San José State men’s golf team through the second round of the Ka‘anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER, played Tuesday at the Royal Ka‘anapali Golf Course.
- The Spartans posted a team score of 23-under par (545) and moved up two spots to sit in sixth place in the 19-team field.
- Five SJSU golfers finished under par on Tuesday.
- Iyer recorded six birdies on his way to a second consecutive 67 (-4) and sits in a tie for 12th place overall with a 134 (-8).
- Ivan Barahona and Christian Maggard paced the Spartans in the second round, each shooting a 66 (-5).
- Barahona tallied an eagle and four birdies, bringing his tournament total to 134 (-6) and placing him in a tie for 26th.
- Maggard, a freshman, notched a career-best round with an eagle and five birdies to finish the day at 137 (-5), tied for 29th.
- Keshav “KC” Mungali carded his second straight 70 (-1) for a 140 (-2) total, good for a tie for 56th place.
- Jed Dy shot a 74 (+3) and sits at 143 (+1), tied for 86th.
- Competing as individuals, Ben Friedman fired a 67 (-4) with six birdies to sit at 139 (-3), tied for 48th, while Itai Cohen carded a 78 (+7).
