SAN JOSE, Calif. – Paige Pineda-Aliamus scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season to lead the San José State women’s soccer (1-7-3, 0-0-3 MW) to a 1–1 draw against New Mexico (5-2-3, 1-0-1 MW) on Thursday night at the Spartan Soccer Complex.
After the Lobos struck first in the 53rd minute, Pineda-Aliamus equalized just six minutes later, heading in the ball off a cross from Daisy Torres. Leslie Jacobo Duran also assisted on the goal.
Goalkeeper Paige Fry tallied six saves on the day, one of which denied a Lobo penalty kick in the first half, her second saved PK of the season.
- This is the first time since 2017 that the Spartans have earned three straight results to open conference play
- This tie marks the fifth straight draw against New Mexico
- The last time the Spartans drew at home in conference play was against Colorado State on Oct. 8, 2023, in a 4-4 match
- Torres and Pineda-Aliamus each tallied two shots on the day
- Charlotte Memoly, Alexis Dueker, Carmen Hinton, Analise Martins, Pineda-Aliamus and Fry each played the entire 90 minutes for the Spartans
