Spartans Earn Two Old Trapper MW Football Player of the Week Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San José State’s Walker Eget and Jalen Bainer have each earned their first-ever Old Trapper Mountain West Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday.

Eget was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. At the same time, Bainer received Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week recognition following the Spartans’ 35-28 conference-opening victory over New Mexico on Friday night (story).

This marks the first time since September 23, 2019, that San José State has had both an offensive and defensive player earn weekly honors in the same week.

These are the first Mountain West weekly awards for the Spartans this season. Last year, SJSU earned one offensive and two defensive Mountain West weekly awards.
