FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Lolo Fonua recorded her first 20+ career-kill match, and the San José State volleyball team went five sets with defending Mountain West champion Colorado State before falling 3-2 (18-25, 25-21, 25-21, 12-25, 15-11) Saturday afternoon inside Moby Arena.
- Fonua led all hitters with 22 kills and hit a team-best .378 with 45 attempts on five errors. She
- Morgan Graves added 12 kills for SJSU, including the final two kills of set three for the win.
- Fatimah Hall recorded her fourth consecutive double-double with a career-high 50 assists and 13 digs.
- Naima Foster and Learden Lee each contributed seven kills for the Spartans.
- Ava Hewitt-Smith led the Spartan blocking attack on Saturday with seven, two solo and five assists. Hall and Foster each had four block assists.
- Two other Spartans recorded double-digit digs, led by Talita Goncalves with 15 and Randilyn Reeves with 10.
- Nazare Judd and Goncalves each had two aces in the match.
- After falling in the first set, the Spartans took a 7-6 lead on a Ram service error and never trailed the rest of the set, leading by as six at 13-7, and winning 25-21 on a Fonua kill.
- The Spartans never trailed in the third set with a Fonua kill giving them a 3-2 lead for good as SJSU won 25-21.
- San José State played its ninth five-set match of the season.
