SJSU Football Announces Coaching Staff Changes

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San José State football head coach Ken Niumatalolo announced significant changes to the coaching staff, effective immediately, on Monday.

Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator, Derrick Odum, and Senior Football Analyst and Special Teams Coordinator, Joe Palcic, will be removed from their duties for the remainder of the season.

"We appreciate the contributions Derrick Odum and Joe Palcic have made to our program and wish them and their families the very best," said Niumatalolo. "At this time, we believe a change is necessary to reinforce our commitment to excellence for our student-athletes, staff, and community. As a team, we remain unified in our mission to compete at the highest level and uphold the Spartan standard."

In light of these changes, inside linebackers coach Bojay Filimoeatu will serve as interim defensive coordinator for the Spartans for the rest of the 2025 season.
