Six Players Score Double Figures in Spartan Victory

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Colby Garland scored 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting and a season-high six assists and five rebounds to lead the San José State men’s basketball team (1-3, 0-0 MW) in a 110-56 victory over Bethesda Monday night from the Provident Credit Union Event Center. 

The Spartans shot 65.2% from the field and 52.2% from three-point range, with ten players scoring and six reaching double figures. Jermaine Washington added a season-high 16 points and a career-high six assists, while Ben Roseborough poured in a career-high 15 points, knocking down five three-pointers.

In the frontcourt, Marcus Overstreet and Yaphet Moundi controlled the paint. Overstreet posted 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Moundi tallied an 11-point, 12-rebound double-double. The Spartans outscored Bethesda 60–18 in the paint and won the rebounding battle 55–18.

Japhet Moupadele contributed 13 points off the bench in his first career game, and Melvin Bell Jr. added six points, six rebounds, and three assists in 29 minutes of play.

Defensively, San José State held Bethesda to 29.5% shooting and just 6-of-23 from beyond the arc. The Spartans also forced 12 turnovers, converting them into 18 fast-break points.

  • The Spartans scored 110 points for the first time since Dec. 9, 2024 in a 117-80 victory over Lincoln
