Gyapjas Named WCC Player of the Year, Three Other Spartans Earn All-WCC Honors

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Brendon Gyapjas has been named the West Coast Conference player of the year and All-WCC First Team, announced by the conference on Tuesday. Additionally, Sam Keightley and Samu Biros earn All-WCC Second Team, while Keightley is also named to the All-WCC Freshman Team. Also, Mateja Bosic was named an All-WCC Honorable Mention.

Gyapjas is the first ever Spartan to be named WCC Player of the Year. 

The Spartans finished the season ranked No. 10 nationally with an 11-7 record and were named WCC Co-Regular Season Champions. The Spartans are looking to return to the WCC Final for the third year in a row and win their second WCC title in the last three seasons.

The Spartans earned the second seed in the Tournament and will face the seventh-seeded Air Force on Friday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. in USAFA, Colorado. The match can be watched on ESPN+.

  • WCC Player of the Year and WCC All-First Team
  • Named All-WCC First Team in 2024, All-WCC Tournament Team in 2024, All-WCC Tournament MVP in 2023
  • Throughout the season he has recorded 191 saves and allowed 169 goals 
  • Recorded a season high of 20 saves against No. 5 Fordham (10/26)
  • Scored one goal against No. 9 Pepperdine (10/24) and dished out an assist against No. 18 Pacific (10/11) and No. 15 Cal Baptist (11/8)

Sam Keightley, Utility, Freshman, Hamilton, New Zealand

  • WCC All-Second Team and All-Freshman Team
  • Was named WCC Newcomer of the Week in back-to-back weeks (11/4 & 11/11)
  • Scored a season high of five goals twice in wins against Air Force (11/2) and Cal Baptist (11/8) 
  • Second leading scorer with 43 goals on 73 shots 
  • Leader in team with 41 drawn exclusions throughout the season
  • On defense, he drew a season high of seven exclusions against No. 3 Cal, six exclusions against No. 15 UC Santa Barbara and No. 6 Long Beach State

  • WCC All-Second Team
  • Leads the team in shots and goals, making 45 out of 114 attempts
  • Scored a season high of five goals against No. 18 Pacific (10/11)
  • Dished out a season high of four assists in a 17-14 win against No. 9 Pepperdine (10/24)
  • Leads the team in steals with 26

Mateja Bosić, Driver, Senior, Zrenjanin, Serbia/Westcliff University

  • All-WCC Honorable Mention
  • Named 2025 Preseason All-WCC, All-WCC First Team in 2024, All-WCC Second Team and All-WCC Tournament Team in 2023
  • Scored 22 goals throughout the season on 64 shots
  • Recorded three hat tricks against No. 2 USC, No. 17 Santa Clara and No. 9 Pepperdine
  • Dished out a season high of four assists in a 16-13 win against No. 11 LMU
  • Tallied four steals against No. 9 Pepperdine (10/24)
