SAN JOSE, Calif.—Maya Anderson and Amira Brown scored in double figures Wednesday night as the San José State women’s basketball team fell 75-60 to UC Santa Barbara in the home opener at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
- Anderson led the team with 12 points, going 5-for-8 from the field.
- Brown added 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
- Rylei Waugh added nine points off the bench, including 7-for-10 from the free throw line.
- Waugh and Anderson each grabbed nine rebounds to lead SJSU, which outrebounded the Gauchos, 41-36.
- San José State jumped out to a 17-7 lead after the first quarter and led by 16 in the second quarter at 23-7. The Spartans led 33-32 at halftime.
- The Spartans were held to just nine points in the third quarter.
- San José State was 20-of 28 from the free throw line.

UP NEXT – The Spartans play the first of three road games in nine games this Sunday at Pepperdine. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. The team then plays at Portland State on the 27th and at Washington on December 1.
