HOUSTON, Texas—Ela Freiman and Genevieve George swam the top-two times in SJSU history in the 200 IM to highlight the first day of the Phill Hansel Invitational for the San José State women’s swimming and diving team.
- Freiman broke her own school record in the 200 IM, finishing fourth at 1:59.29. She is the first Spartan to break the 2-minute mark in the race.
- George now holds the second-fastest time in the 200 IM as she was sixth at 2:00.00.
- The 200 freestyle relay team swam the fifth-fastest time in school history as they finished sixth at 1:31.63.
- Lais e Silva swam the best time of the season in the 50 free at 23.11 to finish 11th.
- The 400 medley relay team finished the day for the Spartans by swimming the third-fastest time in school history at 3:40.39, to place sixth.
UP NEXT – Day two of the Phill Hansel Invitational begins Thursday at 10 a.m. CT/8 a.m. PT with preliminaries followed by finals at 5 p.m. CT/3 p.m. PT.
