HOUSTON, Texas—Ela Freiman broke a 12-year-old school record on day two of the Phill Hansel Invitational as the San José State women’s swimming and diving team posted five top-10 times in school history on Thursday.
- Freiman set the school record in the 400 IM, swimming in 4:14.54, to finish third. She broke the record of 4:16.17, set by Julia Craddock at the 2013 WAC Championship.
- Genevieve George replaced Freiman on the 400 IM list, as George swam her race in 4:17.83, now the third-fastest time in school history.
- The 200 medley relay team of Karlee Marusik, Vilma Lindberg, Ava Bautista and Nikki Lahey, started the night session by finishing eighth at 1:41.60, the 12th-fastest time in school history.
- Lillie Grover then finished third in the 100 butterfly at 53.67, immediately moving herself into third all-time in the San José State record book.
- Grover was the team’s top finisher in the 200 freestyle at 1:49.84, to place 13th.
- Mya Azzopardi swam the second-fastest SJSU time this year at 1:50.17 to finish 19th.
- Lindberg improved on her best time in the 100 breaststroke, finishing at 1:01.76, for sixth place. She again swam the fifth-fastest in school history.
- Marusik established herself on the San José State 100 backstroke list as she finished the race at 55.01, the sixth-fastest time in school history.
- Elinor Windram finished 19th in the 3-meter diving with 236.10 points.
