
RIVERSIDE, Calif.— Sam Keightley matched his season high of five goals for the second straight game to lead the No. 7 San José State men's water polo team (11-6, 5-1 WCC) in a 14-7 victory over No. 15 Cal Baptist (21-10, 3-3 WCC) on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Spartans are WCC co-regular season champions for the first time in program history.
- With the win, the Spartans also secured the second seed in the WCC Tournament.
- Sam Keightley took the lead on the offensive efforts, scoring five goals as Samu Biros followed with a hat trick and Erik Duesund two. Giancarlo Marquez, Mael Suchet, László Szieben and Louis Fehrensen each contributed a goal apiece.
- Aiding in the scoring results, Suchet, Nathan Correia, Bence Kristok, Duesund, Mateja Bosić and Brendon Gyapjas each dished out one assist.
- On the defense, Suchet, Biros, Duesund and Bosić each drew a steal
- In the net, Gyapjas tallied six saves.
