Spartans to Open WAC Tournament Tonight Against San Diego State on ESPN+

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The fourth seeded Spartans will open the 2025 WAC tournament against the fifth seed San Diego State tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ in Riverside, California from CBU Stadium. The tournament marks Head Coach Simon Tobin’s final WAC Tournament before he retires at the end of the season.

The Spartans are looking for their first conference championship since 2003. The Spartans have qualified for the WAC Tournament nine seasons in a row and have made the WAC Tournament final four times under Coach Tobin, including twice in the last three seasons. The Spartans are also making a 13th all-time appearance in the WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament, marking the most trips to the soccer championship in conference history. 

The Spartans finished the regular season with a record of 10-3-4, earning 10 wins for the third time in the last five seasons. The Spartans had five players earn All-WAC honors. Angel Iniguez, Gilberto Rivera and Arnold Matshazi were named All-WAC First Team while Niklas Dossmann was named All-WAC Second Team. Additionally, Fernando Duarte was named to the All-WAC Freshman Team.
