ON THE ROAD TO END 2025: The San José State women's basketball team ends 2025 with a road game at Utah State this Wednesday afternoon, December 31. The two teams faced each other as members of the Western Athletic Conference before both schools joined the Mountain West in 2013-14.
San José State enters the game with a 2-11 overall record and 0-2 mark in the Mountain West. The team is looking for their first conference win of the season after falling at home to Grand Canyon, 79-59, this past Sunday, and started the MW schedule with an 83-60 loss at Wyoming on the 17th.
Wednesday’s game is the second of three games SJSU plays this week. The team starts 2026 with a home game against New Mexico on January 3 at 2 p.m., after hosting GCU this past Sunday.
ABOUT UTAH STATE: The Aggies enter Wednesday’s game with a 5-6 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the conference. The team opened Mountain West play with a 65-53 home win over Air Force (Dec. 17) before falling at Colorado State, 55-46 (Dec. 20). Head coach Wesley Brooks is in his second season at the helm of the program.

M. ANDERSON LEADING THE SPARTANS: Maya Anderson leads San José State in scoring with 168 points, 12.9 per game. She has led the team in points scored in seven games including a career-best 29 points in a win over Sacramento State. She has scored in double figures in nine games this season.
Anderson also leads the team with 80 rebounds, 6.2 per game. She has led the team in boards in five games - 8 at BYU, 9 against UC Santa Barbara, 12 versus Cal State Monterey Bay, 7 against Sacramento State, and 9 against GCU.
CUMMINS FOR THREEEE!: Allie Cummins leads the Spartans with 17 three-pointers made on the season. Against Saint Mary’s, Cummins hit four made threes in the first quarter of the game, scoring 12 of the team’s 18 points in the quarter. Cummins is the first Spartan to make four threes in a quarter since Sydni Summers made four in the fourth quarter against UC Santa Barbara in November of 2024.
BLOCK PARTY!: San José State is among the top-65 teams in the country in blocked shots with 56, 4.3 pg. The Spartans blocked a season-high nine blocks in the game at Pepperdine on November 23. The nine blocks are the most by a Mountain West team this season and the most by an SJSU team since the nine recorded in a 72-49 win at Air Force on January 20, 2016.
Gabriela Pato leads the team with 20 blocks, including four against Saint Mary’s, while Kaliyah Dillard is second with 12, starting the season with three at BYU.
NATIONAL RANKINGS: Through December 29, the Spartans rank in the top-100 nationally in five categories.
