SAN JOSE, Calif.—Gabriela Pato recorded her first collegiate double-double, and Maya Anderson and Allie Cummins recorded season highs in points, but the comeback fell short for the San José State women’s basketball in the 58-53 loss to Saint Mary’s Thursday night inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
- Pato led SJSU with a season-high 10 rebounds and added 10 points for her first double-double.
- Maya Anderson led all scorers with 18 points in the game and was 3-for-4 from three-point range. She grabbed six rebounds and a career-best four steals.
- Allie Cummins scored a season-high 14 points, making four three-pointers in the first quarter. Her four made threes were the most in a quarter by a Spartan since Sydni Summers made four at UC Santa Barbara on November 17, 2024.
- The Spartans sprinted out to an 18-12 lead after the first quarter, led by Cummins’ 12 points in the quarter.
- Down nine at 44-35 with 1:31 left in the third quarter, San José State used a 16-5 run to take a 51-50 lead with 4:05 left in the game on an Anderson three-pointer. SMC took a brief lead before SJSU tied the score a 52-52 on a Pato made free throw with 3:21 left.
- SJSU scored just one point the rest of the game as the Gaels won 58-53.
- Rylei Waugh dished out a career-best five assists to go with seven points and five rebounds.
- Stella Sgro came off the bench to dish out a career-best four assists and grabbed two rebounds.
