COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—San José State women’s gymnasts Mikaela Pitts and Sophie Patterson have been honored by the Mountain West for their performances Sunday afternoon in a tri-meet hosted by Arizona State.
Mikaela Pitts, Mountain West Vault Specialist of the Week
- Won the vault with a career-best 9.925 to start the season
- Her 9.925 ties for the second-highest in school history
- Just the fourth person and fifth time a Spartan has recorded a 9.925 on vault
- Helped the vault team to a 49.125, tying for the third-best team vault score in school history
Sophie Patterson, Mountain West Freshman of the Week
- Finished second on the vault with a 9.875, the top score by a conference freshman this week
- Added a 9.725 on bars and floor and a 9.650 on beam
- Top Spartan all-arounder with a 38.975
